What are the minimum requirements before participating in a telc qualification?

• Teaching experience at corresponding CEFR levels in the target language (minimum of 450 teaching units in total)

• Language proficiency at C1 level at least in the respective language

• Familiarity with the formats of the telc examinations covered in the licence

• Knowledge of telc examination regulations (link to examination regulations)

• Working knowledge of the relevant CEFR levels and the action-oriented approach

If you have never held a telc examiner licence or if your licence expired more than 6 months ago, you must first complete our free introduction for examiners A1 to C2 module (link: campus.telc.net/course/view.php) on telc Campus. Successful completion of this course is a prerequisite for participating in the on-site qualification. The modules are available in German and English.

If you would like to examine DTB, please note the separate requirements set by the BAMF in the examiner matrix. You will find the exact descriptions when selecting the respective qualification.
Please note that the DTB examinations are not identical with the professional examinations offered by telc. Separate telc licenses must be purchased for these.
The scope of the licenses is regulated in the "General Guidelines for the Conduct of telc Examinations".

Become a telc examiner

As an examiner, you will assess the oral performances of tesk takers. Qualifications for examiners are offered at levels A1 to C2, corresponding to telc examinations in various languages. During the qualification seminar, you will assess sample performances and discuss them with other examiners. You learn to apply the marking criteria consistently and reflect on your role as examiner.

At the end, you will complete a licensing task in which you will evaluate one to two examination situations. If you successfully complete this task and fulfil all participation requirements, you will receive a telc examiner licence valid for three years.
