Structure and procedure of the exam
The exam assesses all four skills – reading, listening, writing and speaking. A detailed description is available here in German and English. Once you have registered, you will have the opportunity to carry out technical checks on the platform and familiarise yourself with the types of questions using practice tests in German and English.
Comparison of REMOTE TESTS and traditional telc certificates
Our REMOTE TESTS also meet the high quality standards of telc examinations. They are conducted under standardised conditions with both technical and human supervision. Please note, however, that the examination format – particularly with regard to the oral examination – differs from that of traditional examinations.
We therefore recommend that you check with the relevant institution in advance regarding recognition. Currently, telc REMOTE certificates are not recognised for visa or residence permit applications.

FAQs on REMOTE TESTS
To pass, you must achieve 60 per cent of the total number of points, i.e. 108 out of 180 points.
You will receive your results as a digitally signed PDF via email. Please note that the document is not explicitly titled ‘Certificate’ and includes a note stating that the exam was conducted under online supervision.
You may take a short break of a few minutes between the individual skills sections (reading, listening, writing and speaking).
The use of paper or digital dictionaries is not permitted.
In the Speaking section of the exam, you may take notes on paper during the preparation time.
During the exam, you can communicate with the invigilator to clarify any questions. Should you experience technical problems, you will be put through to technical support. Please note that this support is currently provided in English only.
The languages of communication are German and English. Please understand that we cannot guarantee communication in other languages.
