Business English Special Interest Group

telc at BESIG’s 30th Annual Conference in Malta

BESIG is IATEFL's Business English Special Interest Group devoted to the interests of the international Business English teaching community. IATEFL BESIG’s members generally teach business English and include both native and non-native speakers of English. The 30th annual BESIG conference, an important hub for the English teaching industry, was held this year from 10-12 November in Malta. Traditionally, telc was there and our stand was well visited.

telc promoted not only the English tests, especially our recently revised telc English B1 Hotel and Restaurant, but also gave two interesting workshops. Michaela Hesse held a workshop about assessment and marking criteria. Cosima Wittmann’s workshop looked at the role of the CEFR in creating and using lexical inventories. The BESIG conference is held alternately in Germany and elsewhere. So let’s meet at the telc stand somewhere in Germany next year!
