Looking forward in ELT

telc at the 3rd Annual ELT Conference in Ireland

Fáilte go hÉirinn!
For the first time, telc has attended this year’s annual ELT Conference in Ireland. For the event on 18/19 February, hosted by the Griffith College in the South of Dublin, English teachers and ELT specialists from Ireland and abroad came together to participate in an intensive programme of 30 sessions and workshops. Over 200 delegates attended the event to learn more about new techniques and developments in English Language Teaching. Of course, they also visited us at the telc stand, where the major points of interests were our Dual-Level Business English exams, as well as the English Practice Material on levels A2-B1 and B1-B2.

telc speaker Laura Edwards gave a workshop on English for specific purposes, based on a task-based syllabus. Participants took a look at how, with help of the CEFR, a step by step approach for need analysis, syllabus planning and task design can be achieved to give students greater control over what and how they learn.

Mia Aghajari spoke about how tele-tandem learning with native speakers can help learners of English get the most out of their learning experience. Ideal for developing independent learning skills, a tele-tandem can also heighten intercultural awareness.
