2015 BESIG conference in Sitges
Focus on Business English
BESIG is the Business English Special Interest Group of IATEFL and aims to serve the needs of the international business English teaching community. The annual conference this year took place from 13-15 November in Sitges, 35 km southwest of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.
Once again, telc was one of the key exhibitors at the conference. Equipped with telc's exclusive eco-friendly conference water bottles, delegates from all over the world visited the telc stand. Our dual-level business examinations and the test telc English C2 caught the attention of visitors to the stand. Delegates were particularly delighted with the English Practice Material at level A2-B1 and level B1-B2 and the accompanying boxes of cards "Flip & Talk!" and "Communication Cards" that telc has developed this year.
BESIG conference participants had the chance to attend the telc workshop "Spice up your Business English class with PechaKucha!" held by Suzanne Vetter-M'Caw. The aim of the workshop was to help teachers encourage their students to speak spontaneously, fluently and without fear in a fun way. At the end of the workshop, the participants were given the chance to simultaneously try out a PechaKucha acitivity using images from the English Practice Material. An enthusiastic round of applause after this activity demonstrated the participants' appreciation of this teaching tool.
The next IATEFL event will be the conference in April 2016 in Birmingham, UK. It will be a special occasion since it is IATEFL's 50th conference, and telc will be there – come and join us!
