IATEFL Conference opening: Mayor Peter Feldmann sends his greetings to Frankfurt's twin city, Birmingham.

Tomorrow the 50th IATEFL conference begins - today, people are already gathering in Birmingham for plentiful pre-conference events. Delegates wishing to concentrate on a particular topic have the chance to attend one of the professional development workshops on e.g. Business English, Leadership & Management, Research, or Global Issues. It is clear that at this year's IATEFL, Language and Migration is also a big topic.

To tune in to the biggest English teaching conference, at the opening session this evening mayor Peter Feldmann takes up the point by sending his greetings from Frankfurt, Birmingham's twin city. He speaks about the importancy of language and migration. The partnership between Birmingham, a multi-cultural city itself, and Frankfurt, was established in 1966, so not only IATEFL is celebrating its 50th conference this April: The twin cities Birmingham-Frankfurt celebrate their 50th anniversary, too!
