At the heart of the new series of events lies a claim that may seem surprising at first glance: German is easy!

After all, German is regarded worldwide as a particularly challenging language. Complicated grammar, long words and numerous rules characterise the experience of many learners. But is the language itself really the biggest obstacle to language learning?

Findings from linguistics, learning research and psychology suggest a different perspective. Perhaps the key challenges lie instead in our ideas about how language is learnt and taught, what makes a good language course, and how we define learning success.

telc gGmbH’s multi-perspective series of events brings together experts from academia, education, business and society. Together, they discuss the role language plays today in society, the workplace and everyday life; the conditions that foster successful language learning; and the opportunities that strong language skills open up for education, integration and social participation.

The focus extends far beyond language teaching: integration, skills shortages, artificial intelligence, education and social participation are among the topics that will be examined from various perspectives as part of the series of events.

The series kicks off with a lecture that tackles the central theme head-on and challenges familiar notions of language teaching: „Sprachdidaktik – Spracherwerbsforschung – GER oder: Warum man einem Anfänger den Akkusativ nicht beibringen kann“. A promising start on 14 October 2026 – with practical insights, new perspectives and scope for open discussion.
