Federal President Steinmeier and President Mirziyoyev open telc examination centre in Samarkand

On 17 June 2026, the first examination centre run by our Uzbek partner organisation, Profi Deutsch, was officially opened in Samarkand in the presence of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the Federal President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

The official opening took place as part of Federal President Steinmeier’s state visit to Uzbekistan, during which he was accompanied by a German business delegation. The visit focused on strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation in the fields of business, education and skills development. The new examination centre further expands the network of our partner organisations for telc examinations in Uzbekistan and strengthens German-Uzbek educational cooperation. This provides skilled workers with a further opportunity to have their German language skills certified close to home.

The first exam in Samarkand took place on 24 June 2026. Twenty young Uzbeks from Samarkand and the surrounding region sat the telc German B1 exam. They are now eagerly awaiting their results, as these will determine how quickly they can move closer to their goal of undertaking vocational training, working and living in Germany.
