telc – language tests at the IATEFL conference in Liverpool

One of the highlights of the telc English! year, the 53rd International IATEFL Conference and Exhibition, is just around the corner. From 1–4 April 2019, the ELT community will meet in the beautiful city of Liverpool.

Attended by approximately 3,000 ELT professionals from more than 100 countries, it involves a 4-day programme of over 500 talks, workshops and symposiums as well as a vibrant social programme. This offers delegates a unique opportunity to meet leading theorists and writers, and exchange ideas with fellow professionals from all sectors of ELT.

Our telc test developer Sean McDonald will contribute a workshops about new CEFR descriptors and we will showcase telc examinations, teaching material and teacher trainings at our exhibition stand 20. Delegates will have the opportunity to get to know our English Practice Materialour dual-level examinations and our telc Online Placement Test. We are happy to introduce the newest addition to our examination lineup: telc English A2·B1 From School to Job. For us, it is exciting to hear what delegates have to say about this groundbreaking digital language exam.

This year, we are particularly proud to announce that now many telc qualifications are regulated by Ofqual, the statutory regulatory authority for external qualifications in the United Kingdom. It's time to celebrate! We would like to celebrate this milestone with you in the City of Music Liverpool, the home of the Beatles. Participate in our Beatles-Language-Quiz and have a polaroid taken with an astonishingly real Beatle lookalike! Curious? Come by our stand 20 and join the fun!

Make sure to follow the conference preparations on our facebook site: facebook.com/telc-english

We look forward to meeting you!

With the publication of the CEFR Companion Volume with New Descriptors, telc - language tests was given a challenge and an opportunity. The challenge is implementing these descriptors. However, the new descriptors give us a real opportunity to rethink language assessment. This talk will demonstrate what we did and present the result: telc English A2·B1 From School to Job!

Cosima Wittmann: Taboo or merely controversial? Topics for teaching and testing

PARSNIPS are to be avoided at all cost in teaching and assessment! Possibly. However, the don'ts of this well-known acronym may no longer be valid for multicultural classrooms. Will one size, one coursebook really fit all? This talk discusses the relevance and (dis)advantages of taboo topics in teaching and assessment and aims to raise an awareness for specific contexts.
