Preparing yourself for the telc examiner and rater training

You would like to register for a telc examiner or rater training?
Here is what you need to know:

Preparing for telc training courses

  • If you register for a telc examiner training for the first time or if your licence is expired longer than 6 months, you need to take part in our free online introductory course “A1 to C2 Introduction for examiners”, which is available for free on the telc Campus site. The course can be taken in German or English.
  • Current examination regulations, general terms and conditions and all telc mock examinations can be downloaded for free from our website. If you are already a telc examiner, you will find all documents in the telc Community under "Downloads".

 

Find the right training course

An examiner training course generally lasts eight hours. The maximum number of participants is 16. Please find an easy orientation here:

  • For which language do you have extensive teaching experience?
  • Do you want to assess oral language skills? Please visit an examiner training.
  • You already have an examiner lincence and would like to assess written skills, too? Please visit a rater training.
  • At which levels do you want to evaluate the oral performance of telc exam participants?

 

Fees for examiner and rater trainings

The current fees for examiner and rater trainings in Germany are:

  • 8 hours training: EUR 80 (starting from 1.9.2017)
  • 4 hours refresher training: EUR 45 (starting from 1.9.2017)
  • Online training: EUR 43

The current prices for examiner and rater trainings in Switzerland are:

  • 8 hours training: CHF 195
  • 4 hours refresher training: CHF 100


Requirements for telc examiner licences

You will receive your telc examiner licence if you:

  • meet all requirements for participation,
  • actively participate in the workshop and
  • successfully assess oral performances in video recordings, i.e. assign the correct CEFR level according to the telc sample answer.

 

Please note:

  • All telc licences are valid for 3 years.
  • Oral examinations may only be administered with a currently valid examiner licence. The licence must be renewed after 3 years. No transitional arrangements are available.
  • You can register for all telc training courses online.
  • An overview of examiner and rater licences can be found in the Examination Regulations, appendices A and B.
  • You may not examine your own students – please refer to the General Terms and Conditions and Examination Regulations.
