telc Deutsch A2 Schule

telc Deutsch A2 Schule is a general language examination for students from 14 to 16 years old. After approximately 300 to 400 hours of German instruction, students can take the examination at any telc licensed examination centre.

For adults at level A2 we recommend the examination telc Deutsch A2.

What can students do at level A2?

They can communicate in a simple way in everyday situations. In a familiar context they can take part in routine conversations. They can use simple grammatical structures more or less correctly.

What is the structure of the examination?

The examination consists of a group written part and a paired oral examination. The group written part lasts 80 minutes. Students are given 15 minutes to prepare for the oral examination. The oral examination is normally conducted on the day of the group written examination.

What is expected from pupils in the examination?

You can find out the details of the exam by looking at the mock examination telc Deutsch A2 Schule. This is a complete test (with answer key), which can be tried out at home or in lessons. In addition, you can read about the exam procedure and how the written test and oral performance are rated.

Who can take a telc school examination?

Anybody who is enrolled at a secondary school or has a valid student ID card.

How do pupils prepare themselves for the examination?

  1. Usually pupils gain language competence in school lessons or in a language course. Additionally, bookshops have course books that prepare them specifically for the language level A2.
  1. In the mock examination pupils can familiarise themselves with the procedure and types of subtests of the telc Deutsch A2 Schule examination. They should know the format of the exam well, before they take the examination.

When can pupils take a telc school examination?

telc examination centres offer examinations regularly, and can also offer exams upon request. Please enquire at your centre when the next exam is scheduled. When you plan, please take into consideration that your examination centre has to register the exam at telc 30 days before the exam date.

Where can pupils take a telc school examination?

At all schools that have been licensed by telc and at telc examination centres (e.g. Adult Education Centres). Please enquire at your school. Additionally, you can find examination centres in your area if you click here.

What does the examination cost?

Your examination centre will inform you about the exam fee. Each examination centre is free to determine the exam fee individually, so unfortunately we cannot give you any details.

How long does it take for me to get my telc certificate?

80% of the certificates are sent out to the examination centre 3 weeks after the complete documents have arrived at the telc Head Office in Frankfurt.

Can the examination be taken again?

Yes, as often as you wish. At level A2 it is necessary to repeat the whole exam, both written and oral parts.
