The telc Licences for Examiners and Raters
One of the advantages of telc examinations is that they can take place locally where the language is taught. To make this possible, we offer both qualification courses and refresher courses to competent and experienced teachers for
- a telc examiner licence and
- a rater licence.
Examiners for the Oral Exam
Compatible with our exams and according to our need for examiners, we organise workshops in various languages and for various CEF levels. The prospective examiners are taught the respective telc rating criteria and learn to apply them. Videos of actual exams taking place help accustom them to the exam procedure. The candidates’ performance on the videos is discussed in detail and rated according to the telc criteria. The examiners’ behaviour is also analysed. The workshop ends with a final test. Successful participants receive an examiner licence.
Additionally, online training courses for various telc examiner and rater licences are available for licenced examiners and raters.
Raters for the written exam
Raters mark the exam candidates’ written performance. Here, too, performance is rated according to the CEF standards. Workshops focusing on a specific language and level teach how to correctly apply the telc marking criteria. During training, raters discuss and actually rate candidates’ written performance. The workshop ends with a final test. Successful participants receive a rater licence.
Licenced examiners can earn a rater qualification online for the respective language. For example: If you already have an examiner licence for English but would also like to assess the written examinations in English, you can qualify online for a rater licence for English A1-A2-B1-B2.
Online rater qualifications are not offered for Deutsch Test für Zuwanderer A2-B1, telc Português B1, Český jazyk B1 and اللغة العربية B1 because these written examinations will be rated at telc headquarters.
telc Trainers
telc trainers conduct the Examiner Qualification Courses and the Rater Qualification Courses. All our trainers have many years’ experience as teachers, telc examiners and raters. They are trained for this particular task at in special seminars.
