This year’s New Year celebrations went off with a bang around the English-speaking world, from parties in the sunshine in Sydney to the fireworks in London ahead of this year’s Olympic Games. Many traditions were kept alive, including Hogmanay in Scotland and the descent of the New Year’s Eve ball in Times Square, New York.
