telc develops the German Test for Migrants for Austria
From 1 July, those wishing to gain citizenship in Austria will be required to demonstrate knowledge of the German language at Level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The Austrian Integration Fund (ÖIF), founded by the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI), is therefore to offer the German Test for Migrants for Austria. To this end, telc GmbH in Austria have created a newly-adapted version of the A2-B1 German Test for Migrants.
During a milestone conference at telc GmbH in Frankfurt am Main on 19 April, telc GmbH presented the Mock Examination and first Test Version to representatives of the BMI and ÖIF. telc GmbH will provide further test versions, while the ÖIF will be responsible for carrying out the examinations themselves.
telc GmbH is also adapting a lower-level ÖIF examination, the ÖIF-Test A2. This should allow those participating in Integration Courses to pass an A2 examination upon completion of 300 teaching units, thereby enabling them to gain a permanent residence permit for Austria.
