Examiner Training for new Licence Partners in Turkey

telc language certificates are ever more in demand in Turkey, now, too. Over the past few weeks, several language schools have received their licences and are ready to begin administering the telc examinations themselves. During two three-day workshops in Istanbul, the German and English teaching staffs at telc’s new partner institutions have been the first to receive their training to become certified telc examiners, allowing exam preparations to now begin in these languages. Following their training, the new examiners had ample opportunity during an enjoyable evening meal to exchange their thoughts and ideas with representatives from telc Headquarters as well as the local telc correspondence office in Istanbul.

These brand-new examiners, noticeably impressed with the communicative aspect of the telc tests, are convinced that these will enable them to better prepare their language lessons and also increase motivation in their learners. “I believe that the telc tests and the application of the CEF guidelines will change the way we teach in Turkey,” declared Joseph Jordan, Head of the English Language Studies at Istanbul’s largest language school, JustEnglish. Companies can also profit from the telc certificates by organising their bonus systems to correspond with the CEF language levels.

Magi Ridley, Head of English at the JustEnglish subsidiary in Beşiktaş, also believes that the telc system will help the teachers as well as the students. “I see even now that I have begun to utilise the new techniques I’ve learnt,” she explained, in a letter she wrote us just a few days after completing the training course. “This is going to help all our teachers, as well as our students. They’ll soon realise that there’s a better way to teach.”
