telc develops the German Test for Migrants for Austria
From 1 July, those wishing to gain citizenship in Austria will be required to demonstrate knowledge of the German language at Level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The Austrian Integration Fund (ÖIF), founded by the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI), is therefore to offer the German Test for Migrants for Austria. To this end, telc GmbH in Austria have created a newly-adapted version of the A2-B1 German Test for Migrants.

Things are happening. We already started expanding our Spanish program last year. telc Español B2 Escuela, a test especially developed for youth, came on line in January 2010. And now telc Español B2 is also at the starting block.

A prime example of modern European integration is Germany’s national team striker, Claudemir Jeronimo Barreto; fondly know as Cacau. Another 54 pupils attending schools in the State of Hesse have received telc Language Certificates for their Turkish language proficiency – bringing the total to 106 pupils who have taken the test since its introduction in November 2009. They have all taken part in the first German-wide opportunity to have their native language skills officially certified in an internationally recognised examination. Representatives of both the Ministry of Education of Hesse and telc GmbH presented the young candidates with their certificates in a special ceremony at the Max Beckmann School in Frankfurt-Bockenheim on February 12, 2010.
